Panel to decide HANM leader’s poll prospect

Shillong: A committee has been formed to decide whether Hynniewtrep A’chik National Movement (HANM) president Lamphrang Kharbani should contest the 2018 Assembly elections.
The HANM leader from Ranikor constituency, in a press statement, said a meeting was convened on Saturday to solicit the views of his supporters but there was a divded mandate.
While a section of Kharbani’s supporters said he should join the newly formed People’s Democratic Front, others were for supporting any party with an edge above others.
Kharbani is the chairman of the committee. The committee will submit its report within two weeks after which another meeting will be convened.
