New Delhi:  Union Ministers Kiran Rijiju and Mahesh Sharma on Thursday took digs at Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, calling him a disaster for the nation and one known for making childish statements.
Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s comments on the Indian economy during the day, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said: “I am here for disaster management… Rahul Gandhi is a disaster for the nation. I don’t want to say anything beyond this.
Rijiju was talking to the media on the sidelines of an event related to the launch of the Special Centre for Disaster Research at the Jawaharlal Nehru University here.
Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s remarks vis-a-vis Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma said Rahul Gandhi was “known for making childish statements”.
“The country’s people as also his party’s members look at Rahul Gandhi as someone known for making childish statements.
“How much acceptability does he have in his own party… some are also saying if the Bharatiya Janata Party has to win elections anywhere, and if Rahul visits that place, the BJP easily wins there,” Sharma said on the sidelines of the 112th annual session of PHD Chamber of Commerce here.
In a tweet, Rahul Gandhi had said: “Dr Jaitley, the economy is in the ICU because of the note ban and Goods and Services Tax.”
Asked about Rahul’s imminent elevation as the Congress chief, Sharma said: “… there is a controversy whether he deserves to be on that post or not. But, it is the Congress’ internal matter. I have nothing to say.”(UNI)
