SHILLONG: Concerned at the dilapidated road condition in Jowai, the Meghalaya People United Front (MPUF) has asked the PWD and a private company to speed up repair work.
In a statement released here, the organisation from Jaintia Hills, said the PWD roads near the post office and a road that led to the office of the superintendent of police and inspection bungalow were in poor condition.
The organisation flayed the PWD department asserting it was indifferent to the poor road condition in the urban and rural areas. Besides, it also pointed out that the national highway 44 had the worst roads as vehicles struggled to make their way to the 7th Mile Weighbridge.
The organisation was also critical of GR Infrastructure, which is executing the road project construction, for taking a long time to complete the road ahead of Umkiang.
