Prohibition
The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC restraining illegal mining and quarrying in the hill slopes and removal of sand from river-beds by any person, company or authority without obtaining mining licence or quarry permit and other clearance certificates from the Competent Authority/(s). This order will come into force with immediate effect throughout the entire District until further orders.  

Gratitude
The office bearers of the Meghalaya State Government Employees’ Federation met the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma at his office chamber on Wednesday, to express their gratitude in the implementation of revision of pay and allowances of the Government employees.

Lok Adalat 
The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, Shillong under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi will hold the National Lok Adalat at the High Court, District Courts, District Council Courts, and Sub-Divisional Courts on December 9. Any person or party receiving the Lok Adalat notice must appear before the Adalat benches for settlement of their dispute amicably.     

Constitution Day
The office of the DC, East Khasi Hills and and the office of the District Sports officer, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong will organise a run for National Integration on Saturday, as part of the observation of the Constitution Day. The run will commence from Madan lewrynghep, Fire Brigade to JN Stadium (VIP Gate). The public are urged to participate by registering in the office of the District Sports Officer on Friday. Participants from the Arm Forces are also welcome. Cash Prize will be awarded.

Workshop
The United Nation Development Programme, New Delhi and State Disaster Management Authority will organise a state-level workshop on Public Private Partnership for Disaster Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation at Pinewood Hotel at 11 am on Friday.

Book release
A book Nirjhorini or The brook will be released at Press Club, Shillong at 3pm on Friday. The book is a facsimile collection of 70 write-ups of the students from different parts of our country. The book has been enriched with 12 different languages.
