SHILLONG: The President of Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSASA) Central Body, Aristotle C. Rymbai, said on Wednesday said altogether 12,481 trained and untrained teachers under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in the state have not received their salary for three months.
In a statement issued to the media on Wednesday, Rymbai said the delay in paying the arrear salary for financial year 2016-17, which is of eight months, is yet to be cleared because transfer of balance budget of Rs 23.54 lakh for 2016-17 has not been released by the Ministry of Human Resources Development.
The association had written to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on November 16 and sought his intervention in the matter.
The association had earlier met the State Project Director of SSA-SEMAM and also the Secretary of the Education department in this regard but none of their assurances translated to action.
