The petrol bombs which targeted Alizan compound belongs to Kulsum Bano and the shop was run by Md Saad Uddin Choudhury.
Quick action by the residents and the fire service prevented further damage to the property.
Police recovered two half-burnt beer bottles from the spot. The attack has exposed poor security in the city ahead of the visit of the Prime Minister on Saturday.
Police have not attributed any cause to the incident though the attack comes in the wake of the arrest of a KSU leader in Ri Bhoi in connection with the stalling of railway project.
