Modi remembers Sardar Patel on death anniversary

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his death anniversary and said the nation was indebted to him.

“We remember the great Sardar Patel on his Punya Tithi. Every Indian is indebted to Sardar Patel for his monumental service to our nation,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also remembered the Iron Man of India and said Sardar Patel was an exceptional leader who laid the foundations of modern India and placed nationalism at its core.

“On Punya Tithi of Lauh Purush Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a grateful nation remembers his life and works, and pays him respectful tribute. Sardar Patel was an exceptional leader who laid foundations of modern India and placed nationalism at its core. Let us follow his ideals,” he tweeted.

Sardar Patel, the country’s first Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Indian National Congress, died on December 15, 1950 after suffering from a massive heart attack at the age of 75. (IANS)
