SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya has upheld the decision of North Eastern Hill University and the Visitor of the University to do away with Hill Area Special Allowance (HASA) which was paid to the teaching and non-teaching staff.
When the case came up for hearing on Wednesday after the earlier interim stay on the order of NEHU, the court said that it found no reason to interfere with the decision of the University, as taken pursuant to the directions of the Visitor that were binding on the University in view of the overriding powers available with the Visitor under Section 8 of the North Eastern Hill University Act, 1973.
