SHILLONG: In order to generate funds to develop Namdong A village in West Jaintia Hills and attract tourists to its scenic spots as well as to showcase the customs and traditions of the Jaintia tribe, a Cultural-cum-Musical festival is being organized on January 19-20, 2018 at Namdong A village.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference on Thursday, headman of the Namdong A, Daman Lyngdoh said that the village boasts of different rivers and waterfalls which also include a unique waterfall “Thwai Ksih” which is famous for its shape that resembles the map of India.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Raul Kharmuti, Jaintia film director who is the programme coordinator of FARM North East, informed that the funds received from the festival would enable the villagers to repair the roads, footpath of the village etc.
FARM –NE has declared Namdong A village as one of the cleanest village in the North East.
To further attract tourists, there will be a community park in the village. Entry fees is fixed at Rs 500 for one day and Rs 1000 for two days.
