TURA: Drumming up support for sitting Siju-Rongara legislator ahead of the coming elections, over 250 bikers took a rally from Baghmara to Nangalbibra coal region on Thursday navigating the treacherous stretches of national highway-62 which is in a deplorable state for many years.
The condition of the road was such that the bikers arrived with dust and dirt strewn on their clothes and two wheelers when they arrived at Nangalbibra.
“South Garo Hills has been neglected for decades and the time has come to change the way the district develops in the coming future. We need wholesome development of the district as we have a lot of catching up to do,” said Rophul on the sidelines of the rally.
The Siju-Rongara legislator has often been in a heated argument with the Mukul Sangma government accusing his government of ignoring the development in his district and region.
“We need development in SGH and that is why we have come to support with a rally. We have suffered neglect through decades and will support anyone who helps in development of SGH,” said one of the rallyists on the sidelines of the event.
The rally ended at Nongalbibra MeECL playground.
