Meghalaya students shine at National science fair

Nongpoh: Three schools representing the state received special awards at the recently concluded ‘Science & Engineering affairs’ held in Kolkata.
The Science and Engineering Fair was organised by the Birla Industrial & Technological Museum in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture.
The Eastern India Science & Engineering Fair began on January 9 and concluded on January 13. 369 participants from all across Eastern India participated in the competition.            Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Malki bagged the Best Model Award under the sub theme – Health and Food, Christ King Secondary School, Riangdo bagged the award the under sub theme – Transport & Communication Today and the Alpha English Higher Secondary School, Nongpoh bagged the award under the sub theme – Renewable Energy.
Speaking to media persons, one of the escorting teachers from Alpha English Higher Secondary School, Madhav Singh said that he was happy to accompany the students to the Eastern India Science and Engineering Fair and the awards are great achievements to the state of Meghalaya.
He also said that the students who participated in the fair will be able to improve upon their knowledge and skill through the experience which will encourage them to compete in any other competition at the national and international level.
He also congratulated the achievers from three schools. He added that in order for the students of the state to improve in the field of science and technology, the state government should have also take serious steps in developing science and technology for future generations.
