Coordination meeting of Civil, Police Sector

TURA: As part of the preparation before movement of polling parties for the general elections to the State Assembly, coordination meeting of all sector officers and police officers for the eleven Assembly segments in West Garo Hills district was held at District Auditorium, Tura on Saturday.
The eleven Assembly constituencies in the district namely, 44-Raksamgre (ST), 45-Tikrikilla (ST), 46-Phulbari (GEN), 47-Rajabala (GEN), 48-Selsella (ST), 49-Dadenggre (ST), 50-North Tura (ST), 51-South Tura (ST), 52-Rangsakona (ST), 56-Gambegre (ST) and 57-Dalu (ST) have been divided in 68 sectors with total number of 473 polling stations.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Ram Singh urged the Sector Officers to focus on the poll and also reminded them about the crucial role they have to play on the poll day, like ensuring safe arrival of polling parties, poll day reporting, model polling stations and replacement of EVMs among others. The officials were also familiarised with their respective police officers during the meeting.
Central Election Observer Dr. Nidhi Pandey urged both the sector and police officers to discharge their duty for the successful conduct of the polls in their respective polling stations while Police Observer Bhavana Saxena advised them to make themselves familiar with the available resources and more importantly to remain on high alert and urged the police officers to ensure security among the polling officials and voters without disruption.
During the meeting the Superintendent of Police, Dr. M G R Kumar also apprised to the Police officers to coordinate with sector officers, remain alert and immediately inform the authorities if any untoward incident takes place.
Later, Senior System Engineer, Tura Election, David Kharpuri briefed the sector officers on SMS-based Poll Monitoring System which comprises of SMS and App based while Web based reporting will function at Headquarter and Sub-Division only.
