SHILLONG: The Election Department has banned exit polls till Thursday due to the bypoll at Kyndong Tuber.
Chief Electoral Officer Frederick Kharkongor said on Wednesday that exit polls are prohibited in the state till Thursday.
To a question on national media carrying out exit polls, he said since it was not released from the state, it was up to the Election Commission to look into the matter. Regarding the non-deletion of votes polled during mock voting in two polling booths under Baghmara and Ampati, the official said on March 3, the votes of the mock polls will not be taken into account.
On Tuesday, the polling officers forgot to delete the votes registered for mock poll prior to the actual polling.
