SHILLONG: Four newly elected MLAs, who were sworn in as Cabinet ministers on Tuesday, have something in common.
The ministers — Banteidor Lyngdoh and Hamlet Dohling (both PDF), Samlin Malngiang (HSPDP) and Kyrmen Shylla (UDP) — are youngsters.
When asked, the four ministers said it was due to hard work that they achieved the current position. All the four ministers said that they took election seriously and prepared for it for a long time, ranging from three years to one year.
Banteidor representing Mawkynriew and Samlin (Sohiong) are KHADC MDCs and they started preparing for the Assembly polls soon after the district council polls in 2014.
Hamlet from Mylliem said though after he unsuccessfully contested both the 2013 Assembly polls and the 2014 KHADC polls, his next target was the 2018 election and he put his heart and soul into it.
Kyrmen, representing Khliehriat, said he had nurtured the area for long by mingling with people and assuring a different approach for development once elected.
