One killed, 3 injured in accidents
On March 10 around 10 pm, one Bolero pick-up (ML-08B-6939) driven by Solen Ch Marak capsized on the road at Mandalgre, South West Garo Hills. As a result, two occupants sustained injuries and were shifted CH Ampati and CH Tura. Later, one of the injured victim namely, Namjing Sangma (65) succumbed to his injuries at CH Tura. Necessary formalities were observed and the matter is under enquiry.
On March 10, Arkishan Paid (36) fell down from a moving truck near Orchid Resort, Umiam, Ri Bhoi. As a result, he sustained injuries and was shifted to CH Shillong. Matter is under enquiry.
On March 9 around 9 pm, one truck (ML-07B-2950) drove by Stilson M Sangma fell into a gorge at Wagea’si in North Garo Hills. Further detail is awaited and the matter is under enquiry.
Witness Day Sancley lodged a complaint that on March 3, one unknown vehicle knocked down Mission Rani on NH-40 (RB). As a result, the victim sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to CH Shillong.

On March 12, Lalsangpuii Khiangte of Lumdemthring, Block-I lodged a complaint that the Chairman/Director of free training programme for minorities under MANAS, Head Office, Leikai, Imphal West had given her contact number in inviting applications without her knowledge and consent, as such, she has been receiving telephone calls from unknown persons causing her mental agony.
Man duped of over Rs 56 lakh in WKH
Mathuradas Sen (54), manager of M/s Shakambari Ferro Alloys Pvt. Ltd., Riwiang, West Khasi Hills lodged a complaint on March 12, that from 2013 to 2014, Sashi Chaurasia represented as authorized person of M/s Daksh Power Co., approached the company for contract work on installation and commissioning of 10 MW power equipment at the factory site. Later, Sashi Chaurasia and Meenu Chaurasia took Rs. 8,80,000 in 2013 and Rs. 48,13,231 during the year 2013-2014. Later it was realized that the duo have cheated the complainant causing loss to his firm.
