Free check-ups, medicines at health mela in WKH

NONGSTOIN: With a view to provide better health care to the people in the rural areas, the office of the District Medical and Health Officer, West Khasi Hills along with the national Health Mission (NHM) on Friday organised a one-day Health Mela at Riangdo CHC campus where thousands of people were benefited.
K.L. Nongbri, SDO Mawshynrut Civil Subdivision, inaugurated the Mela in presence of Dr. W.W. Phira, DMHO, Morning Mawsor MDC, doctors and nurses of the CHC and also the staff of Nongstoin Civil Hospital.
Speaking at the programme as chief guest, the Sub-divisional officer stated that the purpose of organising the Health fair was not just to give free medicines  and  treatment, but also to make them aware about different types of diseases  and how to be self responsible of caring about their own health.
He called upon the general people to take the opportunity of the health mela by availing free medical checkup by the specialists.
Nongbri also lauded the effort of the DMHO, for their initiative of organising the health care services.
The inaugural meeting was presided over by Phira, others who spoke on the occasion included the MDC of Mawshynrut Morning Mawsor, Dr. C. Iangrai.
The Office of the DMHO has also organised a Health rally where students from various schools, Asha, Nurses and people of Mawshynrut participated.
