Ampati by-poll – meeting with political parties held

TURA: As the District election machinery began its preparations for the By-Election to the 53-Ampati (ST) Assembly Constituency to be held on May 28, 2018, the meeting of the political parties was called on Monday to brief them on the procedures relating to the by-poll.

 

The meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner H D B Sangma was attended by representatives of the political parties including BJP, INC, NPP and UDP.  During the meeting they were informed about the Election Notification and the Model Code of Conduct which has already come into effect. The political parties were asked to strictly abide by the Model Code of Conduct as per the ECI guidelines and were requested cooperate with the district election officials in keeping the Model Code in letter and spirit.  

 

The meeting also discussed issues relating to the filing of nominations including certain restrictions to be followed by political parties during the filing of notification by their respective candidates.

Matters relating to Election Expenditure Monitoring, ceiling on election expenses for candidates, etc were also discussed during the meeting with the help of a power point presentation and new IT applications namely, Suvidha, Sugam and Samadhan, were also explained to the political parties.

 

Earlier, soon after the by-election was announced a meeting with the Sector Officers was also held on Friday, last.
