Gram Swaraj Abhiyan observed at Resubelpara, Kharkutta

TURA: Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, a village self-government campaign was observed on Monday at SGSY Hall in Resubelpara, the headquarters of North Garo Hills wherein members of SHGs, Presidents and Secretaries of VECs, Nokmas and Sardars attended.

Speaking during the programme, Additional Deputy Commissioner & Project Director, DRDA P K Boro informed the gathering on central schemes designed for the upliftment of the poor. He highlighted Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana Gramin, a low cost housing scheme and urged them to utilize the government fund in the right channel.

 

Emphasizing on the usage of LPG Connections under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) scheme which is aimed to provide free LPG Connections to twelve thousand households under the district, he said that so far, only around three thousand households have been connected. He therefore urged the gathering to take advantage of the opportunity being provided by the government at the earliest.

The Proprietor of Indane Gas Agency, Sengchi Shira also gave awareness to the gathering on the use of LPG fuel

Information on Health related schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Swasthya Suraksha Mission, Ayushman Bharat Diwaas and MHIS were also highlighted by the SDMHO, Resubelpara.

Under Pradhan Mantri Saubhagya Yojana, a scheme recently launched by the State Government for rural electrification for all willing households, representatives of MePDCL informed that fifty percent of the villages under the district have been identified and in due time the scheme is expected to achieve its target.

Earlier on Friday, a similar programme was also organized at the Kharkutta Block Office of the same district during which, Boro distributed entitlements to identified beneficiaries under Ujjwala Scheme. During the distribution, Boro advocated the usage of LPG connections for clean cooking and reduction in the usage of firewood thereby enhancing the lifestyles of the rural women.
