SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) petitioned the Inspector General (IG) BSF on Bangladeshis intruding into the Indian Territory to lift the stone boulders from Dawki area.
The organisation stated that around 50 Bangladeshis boats are intruding into the Indian soil with the sole purpose of lifting the stone boulders in the BSF outpost Dawki.
The organisation alleged the incidences of stone boulders lifting occurs under the watchful eyes of BSF personnel posted in the area who choose to turn blind eyes to the illegal activities of the foreign intruders.
The HNYF pointed out the BSF has the availability of necessary equipment to counter such illegal activities including speed boats.
Further, the organisation said that on May 2 at 2 am, the residents of Darrang ,Dawki had to take matters into their own hands by chasing away the Bangladeshis boat and apprehended two of their boats.
“They are bold enough to cross over 700 meters from the Indo –Bangla Pillar to carry out their illegal activities,” the organisation said.
In this connection, the HNYF which is also one of the organisations under the CCIB on border fencing appealed the IG to take immediate steps to stop the illegal activities before the matter goes out of hand as it might come into direct conflict with the locals of the area.
