TURA: Garo Hills students are soon to experience a major boost in preparedness for civil service examinations with the Don Bosco Academy (DBA) launching the Civil Service Coaching in Tura in collaboration with India’s premier civil service trainer- Alternative Learning Systems (ALS) here at the Don Bosco College.
The project, which has been initiated by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma with a view to provide access and quality training to aspiring students of civil service from the region, will give special focus on students of Garo Hills and the adjoining districts of Assam.
DBA-ALS will be commencing classes from this month for the full year course, and in July for the weekend course.
While the full year course is for those who have completed their graduate exams, the weekend program is for the students of higher secondary, college or university.
The classes taught by reputed faculty of the ALS will be beamed live from New Delhi via satellite and the students in Tura would be able to attend and interact with the trainers in real time along with thousands of students across the country.
Speaking to The Shillong Times about the coaching program in Tura, Fr George Plathottam, SDB, Director of DBA, said the centre intends to provide opportunity to students who have the motivation, desire and ability to pursue civil service.
