GUWAHATI: The security forces have apprehended an over ground worker of the Naga rebel group NSCN-IM from LOngding town in Arunachal Pradesh.
The rebel group’s worker was identified as Honkai Saham, who was involved in terrorising and extorting money from people in Longding town on behalf of the rebel group, a Defence source informed.
The arrested NSCN-IM worker during the interrogation confessed to being active part of the banned outfit and actively involved in extortion activities in Longding district.
Longding battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Dao Division has been carrying out relentless operations in south Arunachal Pradesh to keep the area peaceful and out of clutches of insurgents and this apprehension would go a long way in creating fear among the anti national elements in the area, the security source claimed.
The Security Forces has been carrying out aggressive operations in the South Arunachal Padesh and this apprehension has struck a blow to the extortion activities being carried out by the underground cadres of the NSCN-IM in the area.
