HC continues hearing on Umroi airport

SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya continued its hearing on the pending case related to expansion of Umroi airport on Wednesday in the presence of Chief Secretary Y. Tsering, among others.
In compliance with the order on June 28, the chief secretary, chief engineer, PWD, the Commissioner of Transport (Nodal Officer), the GM (FPD) Flight Procedure Design and the GM (ATM-NOC) and Cartography were present.
The court said keeping in view the entire gamut of the matter, the authorities present were impressed to sit together under the chairmanship of the chief secretary to work out the modalities which will help in making the airport at Umroi operational.
“They have also to work out as to whether there is possibility of reducing the volume of obstacles in Cluster-I and how the cost can be reduced”, the order said.
In the meeting, they will also discuss the issue of obstacles in the context of DPR as had been prepared in 2009 during expansion of the airport”, the court observed.
The hearing will continue on Thursday.
