SHILLONG: Members of the National People’s Party of Rongjeng constituency in East Garo Hills have demanded upgradation of the administrative unit into a civil sub-division. Village in GH deprived of electricity for 3 months
TURA: The absence of a transformer at Anchenggre Village under Gambegre Block in West Garo Hills has resulted in villagers having to live without electricity for some time now even as several complaints have been made to MeECL officials. According to the villagers, the village has been under darkness for almost three months and the brunt of the problem is being borne by school children who are unable to study for their exams. The villagers stated that when they approached the MeECL office to inquire about the matter, they were told by officials to wait for two or three days and to clear the line of any obstructions. “We have done as we were told and we have waited not for three days but three months. However, nothing has been done to rectify the problem and we are still living in darkness,” the villagers said.
