SHILLONG: The disciplinary committee of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) has decided to issue show-cause notice to its three rebel MDCs in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council for their alleged anti-party activities.
The three MDCs who supported the Khasi Hills Democratic Alliance are Latiplang Kharkongor, James Sylliang and Blandingstar Warjri.
The governor on Friday approved the names of the executive members of the KHADC in which Latiplang Kharkongor and James Sylliang are also in the list.
The matter was handed to the party’s disciplinary committee headed by Sohra MLA Gavin Mylliem.
“All the members of the disciplinary committee unanimously decided to issue show-cause notice to all the three MDCs. We have given them time till Monday at around 12 noon to meet us. If they don’t turn up, further actions will be taken against them,” Mylliem said.
PDF president Ivan Marbaniang said the reason they had to withdraw the candidature of Morningstar Mawsor from the post of Deputy Chairman was because the three MDCs did not support his candidature despite a written direction.
He added that the three MDCs were summoned by the party high command but did not turn up. Again, PDF MLA Hamlet Dohling was asked to meet the three MDCs.
“The three MDCs presented their own arguments to him and the report was given to the central working committee that held an emergency meeting. We decided to give them a chance by waiting for the arrival of Banteidor Lyngdoh,” he said.
He added that Lyngdoh, Dohling and MLAs Gavin Mylliem and Jason Sawkmie met the MDCs but the meeting was not fruitful.
