Education Director interacts with teachers in NGH

TURA: Director of School Education & Literacy, A Ch Marak recently interacted with the teaching fraternity of all Elementary Schools under North Garo Hills district to find out measures to improve the performance of students and the quality of education in the district.

The interaction with the teachers which took place in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, S C Sadhu and Additional Deputy Commissioner, P K Boro was part of the one day orientation and workshop cum capacity building programme on Quality Education/ Career Guidance & Management of Educational Institution for Teachers/Faculties of Elementary Schools of North Garo Hills, organized by the District Administration under Chief Minister’s Career Guidance and Counseling Scheme.

The programme is the first of its kind to be held in Garo Hills with the objective to discuss issues, grievances faced by the Elementary School teachers as well as to provide redress of the matters informed, DIESEL Director, A Ch Marak.

Pointing out the poor percentage exuded from the SSLC, HSLC Results in the district, the Director informed that this programme aims to root out issues as to why Government Schools in particular is lacking behind. He urged teachers to freely open up the discussion in order to reach to an optimum outcome with regards to improving the quality of education. ‘’Lets us all come out of our comfort zone and do what is needful for the betterment of our education system” Marak added.

Informing the audience of the centrally funded scheme- Mid Day Meal, the Director emphasized upon teachers to effectively implement Mid Day Meal in their respective schools failing of which action would be taken as per guidelines under Food Security Act, 2013.

Deputy Commissioner, S C Sadhu while addressing the audience on Improvement and performance of Schools aspects, said that the fallout in the SSLC & HSLC results reflects the poor quality of the education system. “The poor result of the students is a minor symptom of a major problem in the education system”, he said.
