NE to get 7 bamboo processing units

SHILLONG: An MoU was signed between Cane and Bamboo Technology Centre (CBTC), Byrnihat, Assam & Indian Plywood Industries Research & Training Institute (IPIRTI), Bangalore to establish seven primary bamboo processor units in Northeastern states.
The project which has been funded by DoNER ministry under its Science and Technology Interventions in the North Eastern Region (STINER) scheme is for promoting bamboo industries in the North East.
The MoU was signed by R.K Mohanty, Director –IPIRTI and Gautam Chintey, Adviser (BIT), NEC and I/C Secretary,CBTC in the presence of Ram Muivah, Secretary, North Eastern Council and Chairman, CBTC and other officials from NEC and Cane and Bamboo Technology Centre.
