Meghalaya has a bright future in sports, says athlete

SHILLONG: Indian marathon runner Nitendra Singh Rawat from Uttaranchal  who took part in the Shillong Run on Saturday  said that the general concept of ‘Padhoge Likhoge Banoge Kharab’  has now changed to ‘Padhoge Likhoge Banoge Nawab’.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the Shillong Run, Nitendra Singh Rawat said the country and the world now gives recognition and respect athletes and sportspersons.
Urging people to come out and showcase their sporting abilities, he said that the youths of the state like any other hilly state are talented and Meghalaya has a bright future in sports.
“The talent which youths possess here must be utilized,” he said while adding that he is in love with the place as atmosphere and people here in Shillong are very nice and he feels like home.
The Shillong Run is the 8th edition which over the years has helped spread awareness about disabilities and also highlights the learning spirit of children.
The Social and Economic Life Development Department, KJP Synod Sepngi through the Agency for Sustainable Development Initiatives in collaboration with the Directorate of Social Welfare, Shillong organised the run.
