SHILLONG: The division bench of the High Court of Meghalaya on Monday fixed further hearing on the issue related to construction of NH 40 Shillong-Dawki road after four weeks.
During the hearing of the case, the PWD officials informed the bench comprising Chief Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir and Judge S.R. Sen that the delay in executing the work, repair of the road and resurfacing is due to weather conditions that are prevailing and they are waiting for a dry spell to enable them to complete the work.
Hence, they sought for ten days’ dry spell time for completion. The division bench said they adjourned the matter for four weeks so as to enable the Engineering Wing to make every effort to complete the work in parts whenever they will find suitable weather conditions and file latest status on the next date.
The PWD officials informed the court about the tendering process regarding portion of the road starting from 7th mile to Pynursla.
According to the Engineer, the work has been allotted to the successful bidder and four months’ time is fixed for its completion. An affidavit was also filed in this regard.
