State govt revises passenger fare

SHILLONG: The State Government has revised the fares inclusive passenger tax and freights for journey by mini bus– stage carriage (other than by City Bus/Mini Bus in Shillong) or contract carriage.
In a statement issued on Monday, the the Commissioner and Secretary, Transport Department said the maximum fare for contract carriage, stage carriage and mini bus on all routes in the State shall be Rs. 1.05 paise per passenger per km or part thereof.
Personal effects below 14 kgs shall be carried of charge and personal effects over 14 kgs shall be charged on payments of Rs. 0.60 paise per quintal per km or part thereof, the amount of freight may be rounded off to the nearest 0.50 paise.
Children over three years and below twelve years of age shall be charged at half rate and those below three years shall be carried free of charge.
Goods in bulk (Non-perishable) including food stuff and forest products will be charged at Rs. 0.70 paise per Quintal per km and other Goods including furniture at Rs. 1.75 paise per quintal per km. While calculating the distance fraction of km shall be taken as 1 km.
No maximum rates are fixed for carriages of Livestock on live animals except that birds and animals packed in boxes or baskets shall be charged on the basis of Weights. The revised rates shall come into force with immediate effect.
