Guwahati: Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi has urged the teaching fraternity to emulate the ideals of former president Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and work for the progress of the nation. In a message Tuesday, a day ahead of Teachers’ Day, Mukhi said educators form the pillars of the society.
“As Teachers’ Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of former president Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, we should pay our reverence to this great soul and work to emulate his ideals for building the country of his dreams,” the governor said.
He also thanked the teachers for their selfless service in shaping young minds and guiding them towards their individual goals. “I appeal to the teaching fraternity to take the responsibility of building our society with high moral values and a strong feeling of harmonious co-existence,” the governor added.
