Bodybuilders bemoan lack of support from state government

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Body Builders’ Association (MBBA) bemoaned the lack of support from the state government for body builders competing in several competitions in the national and international platform. General secretary of the association, Arnold M. Lanong said the fund from the government has stopped for the last two years and the body builders are spending from their own. Balaphrang Kharshiing, who secured the fifth position in the 52ndAsian Body Building and Physique Sports Championship, Pune and Jessica Claudia Bamon who bagged the silver medal at the same Championship, asserted they were not getting much help from the state government. Lanong informed that Kharshiing and Bamon are selected to compete in World Body-Builders Championship in Thailand in December 28-30. The MBBA informed that the 44th State Body Building and Yoga Championship will be held on October 13 in the Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture at Bivar Road.
