SHILLONG: Mylliem MLA Hamlet Dohling has proposed that Jhalupara Police Outpost should be relocated to Old Umshyrpi Bridge.
An inspection by a joint team of police and PWD officials, Synjuk ki Nongsynshar Shnong and Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) found that the place is feasible to construct an outpost.
Dohling said there is a proposal for four-lane project from Umshyrpi to Upper Shillong 7th Mile and a two-lane road to Dawki-Tamabil. “They will work out the location on the road alignment of the four-lane project,” he said.
) “We are waiting for clearance from National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited and if there is no problem, it will not take long for the police outpost to be constructed there (Umshyrpi),” he told reporters.
According to him, people from Mylliem are not comfortable to approach the police outpost in Jhalupara as it is too far. He added that the place is congested with no parking space.
The shifting of the police outpost to Umshyrpi will make travelling easy for the people from Mylliem area.
