GUWAHATI: Peeved Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Duliajan Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) in Assam , Terash Gowalla dashed his resignation letter on Tuesday to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal after finding his name missing from the list of 49 persons who were appointed by the CM in different different posts of corporations and boards of the State on Monday.
It wasn’t learnt that Gowalla was aspiring to become the chairman of Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL) but it was given to BJP MLA from Sadiya constituency, Bolin Chetia with Cabinet rank much to the chagrin of Gowalla.
Notably, instead of forwarding his resignation leader to the Speaker of the Assembly , Gowalla sent it to State Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
Gowalla has alleged gross anomalies in the appointments approved by the Chief Minister on Monday. He expressed his dissatisfaction particularly over the appointment of legislator Bolin Chetia as the chairperson of Assam Gas Company Ltd. Gowalla mentioned that he would distance himself from all party activities with immediate effect.
The appointments approved on Monday by the chief minister included names of several BJP legislators along with members from its alliance partners, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activists besides two former chief secretaries and a singer.
The MLAs, appointed as chairpersons of different corporations, have been given rank and status of either Cabinet Minister or Minister of State.
