SHILLONG: IndiGo Airlines has carried out a simulator trial run at Umroi airport.
According to the affidavit filed by Airports Authority of India before the High Court of Meghalaya, the airlines conducted the simulator trial run of the draft ILS runway at Umroi Airport on October 13.
The procedure has been evaluated and reported to be satisfactory and the same has been forwarded by Airports Authority of India to DGCA on October 16 for approval so as to carry out flight trial of the draft ILS procedure.
The matter came up for hearing on Tuesday before the division bench comprising Chief Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir and Justice SR Sen.
The Commissioner of Transport has filed an affidavit on Monday stating that Chief Engineer of PWD (Roads) had submitted a status report regarding construction of road from Umden Mission to Umroi Airport Colony.
Besides, a status report was also submitted regarding the removal of obstacles which are Cluster-II and Cluster-III.
The report of the chief engineer has been annexed in the affidavit that reveals from Cluster-II Part-I up to October 15, 94.61 per cent earth has been excavated out of which 83.75 per cent has been dumped at the site.
The Advocate General on Tuesday produced updated statements which reveal that on Monday, 99.16 per cent earth was excavated of which 98.16 per cent has been dumped.
Regarding Cluster-II Part-II up to October 15, 77.04 per cent earth had been excavated and as per updated report submitted as on Tuesday, 82.28 per cent has been excavated. Regarding Cluster-III up to October 15, 49.38 per cent earth had been excavated and the same volume has been dumped.
As per the updated report as on Tuesday, 60.92 per cent has been excavated.
According to the court, it appears that the contractor of Cluster-III is not showing desired progress. The chief engineer was asked to ensure that within 10 days, excavation and dumping work should be completed. After 10 days, an updated status report should be filed regarding Clusters-II and III, the court said.
The division bench also said the status report regarding construction of road from Umden Mission to Umroi Airport Colony submitted is not satisfactory. The Advocate General sought 10 days’ time for filing updated status report and the same was granted.
The matter will come up for hearing again on November 5.
