TURA: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has said that construction of the double lane road from Damra in Assam up to Bajengdoba in North Garo Hills would begin by early next year as the detailed project report (DPR) for the same is already under process by the state PWD department.
The chief minister told a delegation of NPP youth leaders from North Garo Hills at CM Secretariat in Tura on Friday that funds for the Damra-Bajengdoba double lane NEC road is already available with the North Eastern Council that was initiated during his tenure as the MP of Tura and the DPR is soon to be submitted to the council.
The delegation of NPP leaders submitted a memorandum highlighting improvement of road communication and health care.
Besides the Damra-Bajengdoba road project, the delegation also mentioned the need for a double lane of the Bajengdoba to Borjora road, upgradation of Rangagora-Bolbola road, Mendi to Krishnai via Jira road, Resubelpara to Krishnai via Khardang road, Adokgre to Dupdhara road and Dekachang to Dingok via Rongrong PWD road.
With reference to health sector, the youth wing urged for early completion of the Resubelpara Civil Hospital, upgradation of Mendipathar and Bajengdoba Primary Health Centres to a Community Health Centre, repairing of the health sub-centres and posting of sufficient staff.
The youth wing has also sought holding of any sporting discipline in the district during the 2022 national games which Meghalaya will be hosting.
