Assam pavilion opens for visitors to IITF

GUWAHATI: Live demonstration of reeling of muga yarn and special tea tasting sessions are the major attractions at the Assam Pavilion which opened for visitors to the India International Trade Fair (IITF), 2018 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on Wednesday.

 

This year, the Assam Pavilion has been designed and decorated to exhibit the strength of the state in bamboo, wood and tea sectors, an official statement issued here said.

 

“Locational advantage of the state with South East Asian countries has also been showcased in the pavilion. As the theme of IITF, 2018 is ‘Rural Enterprises in India’, products of prominent rural enterprises of the state such as bell metal, terracotta, mask, Assamese jewellery, eri, muga and Assam silk, japi, decorative candle, water hyacinth product and areca nut leaf plate have been displayed at the pavilion,” the statement said.

 

India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) has newly constructed an Integrated Exhibition cum Convention Centre, replacing the old state pavilions.
