Tuber MDC’s nephew among attackers

JOWAI: Hamlenshwa Rymbai, who was arrested on Saturday in connection with the attack on two activists on November 8, is the nephew of an MDC and a former functionary of the Khasi Students’ Union.
Rymbai is the nephew of Lasky Rymbai, MDC from Tuber, and a supporter of Cabinet minister Kyrmen Shylla, who is the UDP legislator from Khliehriat. He is a UDP member in East Jaintia Hills.
Rymbai, a coal transporter, is also a former finance secretary of the Khasi Students’ Union.
Two persons were arrested immediately after the near-fatal attack on Agnes Kharshiing and Amita Sangma at Tuber Sohshrieh. A woman was also picked up but released due to lack of evidence.
Both West Jaintia Hills and East Jaintia Hills police are coordinating for effecting arrests.
