Compensation for death of men in uniform in action raised to Rs 15 lakh in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Government has enhanced  the ex-gratia compensation paid to families of Armed service personnel  killed in action  during encounters from the existing Rs 7.5  lakh to  15 lakh

Talking to media persons after the Cabinet meeting, Home Minister, James Sangma said that the scheme was notified in the year  2012 and the scheme was extended to the families of CAPF, state police and home guard personnel.

Earlier, the compensation for the personnel who was permanently disabled was Rs one lakh and now it has been increased to Rs  5  lakh.

Similarly,   compensation for the civilian killed in action has been increased to Rs 2  lakhs.
