Reliance General Insurance signs contract to implement MHIS-IV

SHILLONG: The State Nodal Agency of Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS)  on Monday signed the contract with the   Reliance General Insurance Co. Ltd for implementation of  of MHIS – Phase IV in convergence with Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB – PMJA V).

After a rigorous selection procedure, Reliance General Insurance Co. Ltd emerged as the lowest bidder for implementation of the scheme.

The contract was signed by Pravin  Bakshi,  CEO of MHIS cum Secretary Health and Family Welfare Department in the presence of the Health Minister, A L Hek, while Reliance General Insurance Co. Ltd was represented by Dr Saumya Kumar Misra, Segment Head – Government Business Group.

Speaking on the occasion,  AL Hek said that  continuous efforts are being made to roll out the scheme at the earliest eve as he added that the Government is keen to launch the scheme before December 20  and it wanted to present scheme to the people as a Christmas gift.

He said that the Registration for MHIS – Phase IV in convergence with AB – PMJAY would start at the beginning of the year. He also urged the  Reliance General Insurance Co. Ltd to ensure that the scheme is not delayed at all

It may be mentioned that the Government intends to provide quality health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakhs to all families of the state, barring state and central government employees.

The benefits of this convergence can be availed at empanel led Health facilities in the state and outside of Meghalaya.
