GUWAHATI: Barcodes will be introduced in answer sheets for the first time in the High School Leaving Examination which will be held across 457 centres from February 14, 2019.
The move by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam, which conducts the exam, is aimed at making the examination process transparent and free from unfair practices.
The board has also made it mandatory for students to use black ink while writing their papers at the centre.
According to sources, altogether 3, 53,000 students will appear in the exam, which concludes on March 2, 2019. The authorities plan to ensure tight security by deploying flying squads in “sensitive” centres even as close-circuit television will be installed in all the centres.
