SHILLONG: Minister of State for Tourism KJ Alphons, in a letter to the Archbishop of Shillong Dominic Jala, has highlighted the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of Christmas.
“In all humility, allow me to list some things Modi government has done for the downtrodden”, the MoS wrote in his letter, reminding the church about construction of 95 million toilets, distribution of 58 million free LPG cylinders, 300 million bank accounts for the poor, direct transfer of Rs 5,33,676 crore money to the poor and taking electricity to the villages.
In his praise, Alphons said 2.63 crore houses were given free electric connection and houses belonging to the poor will be electrified by March 2019, besides health insurance.
The minister claimed in his letter how he had taken up all issues related to the church “with the appropriate authorities and most often we have been able to find a solution”.
Alphons also did not forget to laud the services rendered by the Church in the field of education, health care and welfare of the downtrodden.
