Youth files FIR against SP, presses ‘attempt to murder’ charge

SHILLONG: A youth from the city identified as Manavon Massar along with TUR member Angela Rangad has filed a FIR against SP of Traffic BJ Laloo for abuse of power, assault and attempt of murder besides illegal confinement.
The FIR filed at Laitumkhrah Police Station stated that Massar was driving a vehicle on Wednesday evening along with his friend and had overtaken some cars along St Edmund’s Road when the SP pulled him out of the car and physically assaulted him.
According to the FIR, the SP also threatened him by saying: “If this was Garo Hills, I would have just shot you.”
The two boys were then allegedly taken to Laitumkhrah Traffic police where the SP continued to abuse them by prodding them with his lathi
The FIR said that they were taken to Civil Hospital for medical tests and as per the tests, Massar sustained a fractured index finger, bruised legs and no trace of alcohol or drugs.
“He beat me up and only stopped because I spoke to him in Khasi,” the FIR stated while demanding immediate suspension of the SP.
When contacted, SP Laloo said that he was overtaking vehicles rashly and dangerously in foggy conditions thus putting the lives of others at risk.
The SP also added that he was detained and taken to the police station where he challenged the cops after which they were forced to subdue him.
He also said that he has filed a FIR against the individuals.
