SHILLONG: A social organisation has petitioned the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills for removing illegal parking along the road near Dawki village.
The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF), Lapalang Unit met the DC Matsiewdor War on January 3 and submitted a memorandum to her complaining about illegal parking of tourist vehicles in the ‘no parking zone’ (National Highway 40E) along the road near Dawki bridge on side of East Khasi Hills.
Terming it as illegal, the HNYF said such parking had obstructed free movement of private and public vehicles going from Dawki to Shillong and vice versa.
The HNYF asserted that people are subjected to heavy traffic jam for long hours causing inconveniences especially to sick persons.
