NEEPCO to provide healthcare support to Mawdem Village

SHILLONG: In a noble gesture, NEEPCO has decided to support Mawdem Village, a first of its kind in Meghalaya,  to provide preventive healthcare services, with the help of technology through telemedicine

The NEECPO, accepted a pilot model proposal submitted by Think Zero Initiative on behalf of Dorbar Shnong Mawdem,  Hima Nongkhlaw Syiemship, Jirang C& RD Block, Ri-Bhoi District, making it probably the first village in the State to undertake and utilise this kind of technology advantage in preventive healthcare services, provided by iKure Techsoft Pvt.Ltd, which recently received awards from  the United Nations wherein the people of remote Mawdem village and the neighbouring  villages will benefit from this “Preventive Healthcare Services such as periodic Physical doctor consultation and others.

The pilot project of providing the expensive  advanced equipments  to be used through internet and telemedicine  is  to be implemented by  ikure Techsoft Pvt Ltd, and Think Zero Initiative.

The sanction order letter was handed over  on Monday by N. K. Mao, General Manager, (E/M), Env. & RR Wing, CSR, NEEPCO

It may be recalled that Mawdem Village under, Nongkhlaw Syiemship, Jirang C& RD Block, Ri Bhoi Dist is about 140 from Shillong, and it takes about 6 hours to reach capital

After through deliberations, the NEEPCO authorities accepted this unique proposal as a measure to support rural health care in Meghalaya through innovative ideas.
