All Assam open badminton tournament from January 23
SHILLONG: Badminton Gurukul is organizing an All Assam Open Badminton Tournament from January 23-27 at Royal Global University. This tournament is to encourage talented youngsters of the State to get a platform to excel in the game of badminton. More than 250 players are participating in this marqee event. This is first event of its kind where Badminton Gurukul is giving a platform to young talent of Assam to compete in presence of national level players and coaches. The tournament will be organised in Association with host institution Royal Global University where Badminton Gurukul is located. The tournament is recognised by Assam Badminton Association.
National Voter’s Day Run to be held in Mawkyrwat
Mawkyrwat: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, South West Khasi Hills along with the office of the District Sports Officer, South West Khasi Hills will conduct the “National Voters Day Run” at Mawkyrwat on January 24 as part of the pre-celebration for “National Voters Day” with a theme “No voter to be left behind”. P.B. War Nongbri, District Sports Officer informed that the run will be organise for both below–18yrs (non EPIC holders) Boys & Girls and for above–18yrs (EPIC holders) Men & Women of South West Khasi Hills District only. Complete route of the run will be announced on that day itself. All participants registered for the run should report at the premises of the DC office at 6:15 A.M.,” he added.
35 state athletes take part in North East Muaythai C’ship
SHILLONG: Thirtyfive young athletes of Muay Thai Association of Meghalaya (MTAM) lead Asian Bronze Medalist Ms. Monica Nongrum left Shillong on the January 19 to take part at the North East Muaythai Championship in Sikkim from January 21-24, organised by Muaythai Association of Sikkim and the State Gov’t Of Sikkim. Angelus Sun is also leading the Team along with 4 others as Technical Officials
Five Taekwondo players to participate in SGFI tourney
SHILLONG: Five Taekwondo Players, Jaazaniah G Mawlong, Mari Taipodia, Mukesh Rai, Deep Khati, Sahil Singh along with the Coach SS Nongpluh and Team Manager Shankar Rajak left Shillong for Gujarat to participate in School Games Federation of India (SGFI) fromJanuary 21 at Nadiad (Gujarat).
