TURA: The school managing committee of the Daram Union RMSA Secondary School in North Garo
Hills has written to the Director and State Project Director, RMSA DSEL complaining against the incomplete construction of the said school building and the lack of teaching staff at the school.
According to the managing committee, funds for the construction of the Daram Union RMSA Secondary School building was sanctioned by the government in 2016 however, not even half of the work has been completed till date. The committee alleged the contractor concerned of delaying its completion and absconding.
“In comparison, the Resubelpara RMSA Secondary School building has been completed six months back and is now ready for functioning. But the RMSA school at Daram has been delayed and we suspect that the contractor has completely abandoned the work,” the committee said.
The committee urged the official to direct authorities of the education department in the district to initiate stern action against the erring contractor and restart construction immediately so that this year’s academic session can begin.
The committee also informed that the school was facing shortage of teaching staff as two newly appointed teachers had discontinued their work. According to them, while one Mathematics teacher recently resigned from his post, another teacher who was teaching MIL (Garo) has remained absent since her posting despite repeated reminders and warnings from school authorities.
Informing that the school’s students were performing poorly due to the difficulties faced in the school, the committee urged that eligible and suitable candidates are re-appointed to fill the vacant posts at the earliest.
