SHILLONG: Meghalaya Assembly Committee on Women Empowerment will take up the case of alleged molestation of a young girl by Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), Chief Executive Member (CEM), M B Rymbai.

A 20-year-old girl from East Jaintia Hills has lodged a complaint against the CEM of the JHADC for allegedly molesting her in a hotel room in New Delhi in November.

Chairman of the Meghalaya Assembly Committee on Women Empowerment, and Congress leader,  Ampareen Lyngdoh said that the committee would take up the alleged molestation of the young girl besides  asking the NPP to take action against the CEM of JHADC.

It is alleged that Rymbai had taken the girl to Delhi and molested her there in a hotel room.

Reacting to this, Lyngdoh said that it was very unfortunate incident in a sense that a public leader elected by the public in good faith, instead of helping those who comes looking for help, abused them.

She said that as a legislator she condemned the attempt of such a nature by a fellow politician. She further said that she would write to the NPP chief to take action against the accused.

Meanwhile, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said that in the process of investigation facts have to be determined and justice delivered.

She also made an appeal to the youngsters not to go to politicians asking for jobs but rather follow the procedures to apply for a job.
