SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has refused to comment on Tathagata Roy’s tweet about boycotting everything Kashmiri and took exception to the stand of the Congress-led opposition to boycott the governor’s address on Friday.
Speaking to reporters on the action of the Congress, Sangma said, “I think it is not correct, you might have differences with the governor. This is about the chair and the ceremonial practice. This is an insult to the chair. They should not have done that.”
To a query on whether the tweet of the governor brought bad image to the state, Sangma said the tweet was from the personal account of Roy and not from the official Twitter handle of the governor.
However, when asked, the chief minister admitted that the governor’s post and the individual who is holding it cannot be separated.
Though repeatedly asked, Sangma refused to comment on the tweet of the governor related to Kashmiris.
“I am not making any comments whether it is correct or not and whatever I had said about the incident, I maintain that,” Sangma said.
The chief minister had said in Guwahati on March 6 that the parties and politicians should not politicise national security or raise questions on the valour of armed forces.
