TURA: A three-month old baby boy was killed when a group of armed men attacked it’s mother over a case of land dispute in the plains belt region of West Garo Hills on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in Gomaijhora village involving a family of three brothers and a sister.
The brothers, Azbahar, Sayed and Saib Ali had reportedly opposed the gifting of the land to their sister Nazma Begum by their mother leading to a lot of bad blood within the family.
Angry over possible loss of the land in which they use to reside, the brothers had previously tried to assault their sister’s husband who managed to flee.
On that fateful day, the brothers once again barged into their sister’s house armed with weapons and a confrontation took place.
In the scuffle, Nazma’s infant child Asadul Sheikh was hit on the face with a dagger critically injuring him. He was rushed to Phulbari hospital for medical treatment but could not be saved. The three assailants have since fled the village with the police on a lookout for them.
