Dry day
The District Magistrate, Resubelpara in North Garo Hills has declared dry day in the district on March 21 on account of Holi. All IMFL retail shops, police canteens and bonded warehouses under the district will remain closed.
Illicit liquor
In its drive against illicit liquor, the Excise staff of East Khasi Hills district, conducted raids in restaurants and stalls in town and its outskirts in February, it detected 8 cases with a seizure of 74.600 litres of i/d liquor and 1.500 litres IMFL. In this connection, 7 persons were arrested under Excise Act.
Programme
Ardhendu Chaudhuri Charitable Trust’s Aahar programme will complete six months of service on March 22. To mark the occasion, there will be a short programme at 11 am at Jhalupara Taxi Stand. MLA M. Rapsang, Principal Income Tax Commissioner R. Das, CEO Cantonment Board B. Kyndiah will be present.
Death condoled
The Shillong Roadside Hawker’s Association in its special meeting held on Wednesday at the office premises condoled the demise of Flora Hek, the mother of AL Hek. They observed two minutes of silence as a mark of respect for the departed soul.
